Zuzu is a conservation scientist, Rolex Scholar, and National Geographic Explorer whose work explores the cultural and ecological connections between marine wildlife, ocean ecosystems, and coastal communities. As Storytelling Lead at Anthroposea, she crafts narratives that illuminate these intertwined relationships across time and geography. Raised on the shores of the Mediterranean, her connection to the sea is both scientific and ancestral—deeply shaped by the region’s mythologies, histories, and maritime heritage. Her work has taken her across globe, from Arctic whale surveys to deep-sea expeditions in the Indian Ocean, driven by a commitment to create lasting change for the future of our oceans and planet.

Oliver Beardon

EXPEDITION LEAD

Oliver Beardon is the Director of Sail Britain and Expedition Lead for Anthroposea, bringing extensive expertise in maritime navigation and expedition management. With a lifelong passion for sailing and ocean exploration, Oliver has led numerous challenging voyages that blend adventure with scientific and cultural discovery. His leadership is grounded in a deep respect for the sea and a commitment to fostering meaningful connections between people and marine environments. At Anthroposea, Oliver spearheads expeditions that immerse participants in the dynamic interplay of ocean ecosystems, coastal communities, and maritime heritage, driving impactful experiences that inspire stewardship and conservation.

Charlotte de Mille

ARTS LEAD

Dr. Charlotte de Mille is a sailor, art historian, and curator affiliated with the Courtauld Institute of Art. Her interdisciplinary work navigates the intersections of maritime history, visual culture, and contemporary art, revealing how the sea has shaped human creativity and identity across centuries. With extensive experience both on and off the water, Charlotte combines her practical knowledge of sailing with rigorous academic inquiry to curate exhibitions and projects that bring maritime narratives to life. She is passionate about fostering deeper connections between art, environment, and society, using the sea as a powerful lens to explore cultural heritage and inspire stewardship. Through her curatorial practice, Charlotte aims to challenge conventional perspectives and highlight the urgent need for a more sustainable relationship with our oceans.
